Production of my digipak

The photographs used in the digipak were all taken during the diverse filming sessions. Although I had other many options, such as the ones seen below, I decided to choose the ones I believed matched best. In order to create the digipak,  I used ‘Canva’ which is an app that offers a wide range of templates. Also, for it to be as realistic as possible I added common characteristics seen in all albums, this required a lot of research and time.

Front Cover:

On the front cover of my album I have included the name of the artist and his logo, the name of the album, the date released and the record label.

It has a very clear recognizable link to the music video as the image was taken at the same location where it was filmed. Also, there is a similar colour palette and same use of costume. I have decided to use this image for many reasons, the most important being that I consider it reflects and communicates effectively the genre of the song. I believe that it represents the artist’s style and it most certainly attracts my target audience. A wide range of colours can be seen, varying from dark ones such as black to lighter ones like blue and orange. However, the name of the album ‘For You, For Me’ is written in an intense white which makes it stand out from the rest. Aswell, it has a size 85 font compared to the  37 '8 font of the name of the artist and 24 size of the date released. This has been done to catch the audience’s attention with more facility. Both the name of the album and image choice suggest the theme of love in my music video.  Overall, the album cover has been designed in order to include all what’s necessary so that it looks as realistic as possible and without overloading it with too many things.

Inside cover:

On the inside cover of my album I have included a disc with the name of the album, artist, logo and record label as well as a photograph of the location in which the song ‘To Build a Home’ is filmed.

For the inside left side of the album, I decided to choose an image of the location in which my song takes place. Although I tried numerous options I finally opted for this one as I consider it fits perfectly with the style of the rest of the album and also has a lot of significance. I applied a ‘summer’ filter to it as the original photo was too dark for the style I intended to use throughout the album. I feel like even though it is simple, it has a lot of significance and adds a lot to the overall mood created.

For the inner right side of the album, I decided to go with a typical looking CD. Over it I included the common things such as the name of the album and the name of the artist along with his logo. In addition to this, in a very small font size I have also added the name of the record label, the date and the place it was created. This can be seen at the very bottom of the disc. The CD is placed on top of the same photograph as on the front cover, establishing a clear relationship and therefore making the album more realistic in general.

Back cover:

On the back cover of my album I have included a track listing, a bar code, a copyright sign, the record label, the name of the album, name of the artist and his logo and the where it was made.

The back cover of the album I have designed is similar to the ones I have previously analysed from famous artists. I have added all of the elements listed above to make it as authentic as possible, using a black background in order for these to be seen clearly. Also, the frame is different as I have used the same photograph as in the inside left side of my digipak in order to have a similar appearance throughout the whole album. I believe my choice of colours and the way in which everything is laid out has a positive effect on the targeted audience. I believe that by adding both a barcode and a copyright sign, I have fully made it as realistic as possible as it is a convention needed in all albums. Once again, I have used the same colours as seen in the front cover in order to follow a visible pattern. The name of the artist is written in ‘Public Sans’ in a light blue colour while the name of the album in ‘Horizon’ in white. I have done this purposely in order to establish a link with all the sides seen in the album. The songs included on the album are numbered and are very visible. This is, once again, a required convention of a back album cover.
