Pre-production preparation

PLANNING

Planning is an extremely necessary and important process to take into account. It allows us to anticipate what will help us accomplish our goals and what will prevent us from achieving them, and to understand what we can do about them. Planning helps us take responsibility for what we do.

In order to film the videoclip for the song `To Build A Home' a shooting schedule and call sheet was neccesary.

Shooting Schedule

This is the shooting schedule I created in the beginning of November. However, due to some things and others I didn't follow it exactly. I also decided to change the person interpreting the teenage girl in the music video.

My real shooting schedule ended up looking like this:

(Exterior) Long shots and medium shots of two main character walking through the location.

Wednesday 4th January PM:

(Exterior) Tracking shots only Ester.

Sunday 8th January PM:

(Exterior) Shots dancing with both actors + Behind the back shots.

Monday 16th January PM:

(Exterior) Only Ester sunset shots at night.

tuesday 17th + Monday 30th January:

(Exteriro? last neccesary shots, repeating of some medium shots at the location wiht the house.

Crew List

Altough I will have a small amount of people involved in the filming of my music video, their tasks are extremely important and neccessary.

1) ESTER DIOS

I myself are part of the crew list since I will be the director, actress, producer, costume designer and on some occasions camerawoman.

I will also have the help of:

2) Monica Vidal

She will be in charge of directing and filming the music video while I am acting in it. We will work together to take the best shots for the video.

3) Antonio Bermejo

Antonio will be the other main character in the music video. He will play the role of the young teenager.

The choice regarding the main character was one of the first decisions taken in the planning process of the music promotion package.

I believed he would be the perfect fit as he has the look of a streotypical teenager. Also, my familiarity with the character contributed to the choice as I could contact him with more facility. It also allowed me to experiment more and reflect the theme and genre of the song more effectively.

I personally asked him if he would be willing to participate in the music video. After that we rearranged the days and times that best suited him and from there we started shooting.

Prop List

The props chosen to be used throughout the production of the music video and its complementing pictures are either already owned by me or the other protagonist. They consist of clothing pieces and accessories that represent the chosen style for the two main characters.

Props sometimes have a lot of significance. They add a sense of reality to the videoclip and may also emphasize the genre of the song. In my music video, there were not many props used, but were still equally important. Each chosen prop was intentionally selected as I believe it could add something positive to the music video.

The costume chosen for the both main characters reflects their youth and immediately communicates to the audience they are typical teenagers.

The use of the cross necklace is extremely significant as it tells that they have broken-up and are therefore no longer together.

The use of the stones in the shape of a heart is a minimal prop that I intend to use to reflect the genre and once again tells the targeted audience that they are interpreting the stereotypical relationship between two teenagers,
